Tentulikhunti, Nov 25: An eighth-grade student studying Mandei songs at the Government Upper Primary School in Upargodi village under Lamtaguda Panchayat, Tentulikhunti block of Balangir district, has got the opportunity to sing for recording. The girl comes from a poor family in a nearby area; her father, Bibhishan Harijan, has passed away, and her mother, Suamani Harijan, is raising her. She recorded the song at the “JB.R” studio in Nabarangpur district for “Mandei-2025,” and the performance is now receiving attention locally.
For this song, she collaborated with well-known vocalist Kiran and lyricist singer Brajaraj from Koraput district. The song has been composed by Brajaraj.
The student, Surabhi, has previously participated in block-level programs, as well as district, block, cluster, and Mandei 2023-24 dance events, where she showcased her talent. Local school teacher Vijay Kumar Nayak has been instrumental and inspiring in bringing many talented students from the area into the local spotlight.
The school headmaster, Karuna Kar Raut, along with the support and encouragement of the villagers and parents, has been acknowledged for this effort. The community wishes the student a bright future.
