Over 3,000 Congress and BJP Workers Switch Sides, Join BJD in Nuapada

Nuapada ,29th Oct 2025:  Inspired by the visionary leadership and pro-people governance of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, more than 3,000 workers and supporters from the Congress and BJP have joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). The massive joining event, held in Nuapada block in the presence of thousands of people, was described as a historic moment for the region.

The new members stated that both the Congress and BJP have long ignored the development and welfare of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Expressing their deep dissatisfaction and frustration, they said they have lost faith in these parties, which have “betrayed the trust of the people” over the years.

Prominent individuals who joined the BJD include Tejaral Shabar, Parasuram Majhi, Kapurchan Majhi, Khemral Majhi, Megh Raut, Rup Singh Bhunjia, Shyamlal Bariha, Trinath Bariha, Dhrubaraj Majhi, Prashna Majhi, Mahendra Majhi, Hiralal Majhi, Bedram Raut, Rup Singh Agharia, Thakur Singh Majhi, Baijnath Majhi, Tiharu Mirdha, Gopal Mirdha, Santaram Mirdha, Kharan Mirdha, Pavitra Majhi, Sohan Shabar, Tirtha Majhi, Khageswar Shabar, Jugal Bariha, Narasingh Bariha, Tarachand Majhi, Jagannath Kumar, Parasuram Kumar, Ramesh Kumar, Naresh Kumar, Niharsingh Majhi, Sundar Singh Majhi, Vishnu Sahu, Ashok Rajput, Amarsingh Majhi, Madan Keunt, Dhanatram Shabar, Santosh Majhi, Gandhakar Rana, Shankar Yadav, Naresh Majhi, Arjun Thakur, Setu Debangan, and Ashok Sahu, among others.

The meeting was chaired by senior tribal leader Bihari Lal Bishul.
BJD’s Assembly candidate Smt. Snehagini Chhuria appealed to the people for their blessings and support in the upcoming by-election.

Prominent leaders present at the event included Debi Prasad Mishra (Senior Vice President, BJD and Former Minister), Niranjan Pujari (Former Minister), Niranjan Bishi (Rajya Sabha MP), and Bhanu Pratap Singh Majhi (President, Nuapada District Tribal Welfare Association).

All leaders warmly welcomed the new members, saying that their decision reflects the unwavering trust of the people in Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and their commitment to peace, progress, and prosperity in Nuapada.

They added that with this massive joining, the BJD is poised to achieve a historic victory in the upcoming Nuapada Assembly by-election.
