Padma Shri Doctor Prof. Dr. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra Unwell, Shifted to AIIMS New Delhi for Further Medical Care

Bhubaneswar, Oct 3 [UDN}:: Eminent neurosurgeon and Padma Shri awardee Prof. Dr. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra has fallen ill and has been shifted to AIIMS, New Delhi, for advanced medical treatment.

Dr. Mahapatra had reportedly been undergoing treatment at SUM Hospital in Bhubaneswar after developing a neurological condition and experiencing severe head-related complications a few days ago. In view of the need for specialised and advanced treatment, he was subsequently transferred to AIIMS New Delhi.

A team of medical specialists accompanied Dr. Mahapatra during the transfer to ensure continuous medical supervision and necessary care throughout the journey.

Senior officials of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) University, along with members of Dr. Mahapatra’s family, were present and held consultations with the treating doctors regarding his condition and further course of treatment.

Dr. Mahapatra is a renowned neurosurgeon and academician associated with major developments in neurosurgery and medical education in Odisha and India. His illness has drawn attention among the medical fraternity and well-wishers, who are hoping for his speedy recovery.
