Govt Plans Curriculum Change for Classes 1–12 to Transform Education Sector

Bhubaneswar ,Dec, 10: To bring comprehensive reforms in school education, the Odisha government plans to revise the curriculum from Class 1 to Class 12. The information was shared by School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gand in the State Assembly on Friday.

The Minister, while responding to a question, said that all schools under the School and Mass Education Department will undergo a complete curriculum overhaul from Class 1 to 12. The process of preparing new textbooks is already underway.

Alignment with National Standards:
While revising the curriculum, the government plans to follow the NCERT framework (National Council of Educational Research and Training) to maintain alignment with national standards.

A high-level committee has been formed under Professor Nityananda Pradhan to redesign the curriculum for Classes 1 to 8.

Earlier, on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had unveiled the ‘Odisha Curriculum Framework-2025’, prepared in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This framework aims to align Odisha’s school education with national goals and make learning easier for students.
