During his stay, President Tharman will take part in discussions with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to explore opportunities for economic growth, innovation, and collaboration. His visit is especially notable as Singapore is the first international partner for the upcoming Utkarsh Odisha-Make in Odisha (MIO) Conclave 2025, a major investment summit set for later this month.
Tharman will also engage with several key initiatives in the state, including a tour of Bharat Biotech’s vaccine manufacturing facility and a visit to the World Skills Centre, a collaborative project with Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education Services (ITEES). He will also take time to explore Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, with a visit planned to the Sun Temple in Konark.
Accompanied by a high-level delegation, including government officials and business leaders, President Tharman will focus on areas such as skills development, green energy, and the petrochemical sector. Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed, aiming to enhance technical education and support the growth of Odisha’s semiconductor industry.
In preparation for the visit, Bhubaneswar’s Commissionerate Police has imposed traffic restrictions from 10:50 AM on January 17 to 6:00 PM on January 18 for the safety and security of all involved.
