Ranchi, July 11, 2025: Odisha actively participated in the 27th Eastern Zonal Council meeting held in Ranchi, with Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Health Minister Shri Mukesh Mahaling, and other senior leaders in attendance. The high-level meeting focused on strengthening cooperation among eastern states and the central government to address shared challenges and enhance regional development.

During the discussions, Odisha presented several of its flagship welfare and social initiatives, aimed at improving health, safety, and education outcomes across the state:
- Odisha Pusti Mission: A comprehensive nutrition program designed to combat malnutrition among children and women by improving dietary practices, health awareness, and service delivery at the grassroots level.
- Subhadra Sambedana: A proactive women’s safety initiative promoting gender-sensitive policing, legal aid, and emergency support systems to protect and empower women across the state.
- Ame Padhiba Ama Bhasa Re: A unique education program that aims to teach tribal children in 17 indigenous languages, ensuring inclusive learning and preservation of Odisha’s rich linguistic heritage.
These initiatives were highlighted as examples of inclusive governance, with Odisha emphasizing the importance of culturally rooted and community-based development strategies.
Speaking on the occasion, leaders expressed confidence that the Eastern Zonal Council platform would further boost Centre-State collaboration in addressing key regional priorities such as security, nutrition, tribal welfare, and education.
This meeting marks a significant step toward building a safer, healthier, and more inclusive Eastern India, with Odisha playing a leading role in shaping people-centric policies and inter-state cooperation.
