Mayurbhanj, 2nd Aug 2025: Mayurbhanj District Collector Hemkant Say paid a surprise visit to Thakurmunda block on Thursday, the 19th [July]. He inspected both the Thakurmunda Community Health Centre (CHC) and the block office before returning.
The collector reached the area before 1 PM and first visited the CHC, where he discussed local issues with the medical officer on duty.
Afterward, he visited the block office and held discussions with the BDO, ITDA officials, and project administrators, staying there until around 1:10 PM. Upon exiting, he also spoke with local journalists.
Key Concerns Raised:
There were no specialist doctors at the CHC, and doctors were frequently transferred without replacements, causing a staffing crisis.
The Collector assured that all vacant doctor posts would be filled soon.
He also announced that senior officials would visit Thakurmunda every week, and he himself would monitor the progress to improve healthcare conditions.
Other Issues Brought to Light:
A few days ago, it was reported that 60 liters of diesel were siphoned from a government bus in the block premises and hidden. The Block Development Officer informed the police, but no FIR has yet been filed. This matter was also brought to the Collector’s attention.
In Thakurmunda market, a cold drinking water project has been non-functional for 2 years.
Issues like irregular daily garbage collection in the market and defunct lift irrigation (LI) tanks in some villages were also highlighted.
All these matters were acknowledged by the Collector for necessary action.
