Devotees Flock to Shiva Temples on First Shravan Monday

Bhubaneswar, July 14, 2025 – Today marks the first Monday of the holy month of Shravan, a day of great spiritual significance for Lord Shiva devotees. Across Odisha, especially in the capital Bhubaneswar, a large number of worshippers thronged various Shaiva shrines to offer ‘Jalabhishek’ and seek divine blessings.

Devotees, especially Kanwariyas carrying sacred water, visited temples like Shri Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Kapilash in Dhenkanal, Aradi Baba Akhandalamani in Bhadrak, and Dhabaleshwar in Cuttack, creating a deeply devotional atmosphere at these revered sites.

In view of the heavy footfall, the local administration has put in place elaborate security and crowd management arrangements to ensure smooth darshan and safety for all pilgrims.

The month of Shravan is considered highly auspicious in the Hindu calendar, and the Mondays falling during this time are believed to be particularly sacred for worshipping Lord Shiva.
