Cuttack,14th Aug 2025: The boundaries of 1,635 new revenue villages will soon be altered. The Revenue Department has issued a special directive in this regard. Letters have been sent to the Director, District Collectors, and RDCs with instructions for conducting surveys to modify maps.
Authorities have been directed to ensure that old revenue village records do not get merged or confused. For this, each tehsil will have a dedicated cell with a separate record keeper. Once a village is declared a revenue village, a separate map will be prepared.
The account numbers and plot numbers of residents from the original village will be changed to new ones.
According to the guidelines, villages with a population of more than 250 will be declared revenue villages. Similarly, hamlets located within 500 meters of an existing revenue village will also be recognized as revenue villages. The village names will also be officially recorded in the Bhulekh (land records) database, informed Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari.
