Bhubaneswar, July 15, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for several districts in Odisha, forecasting heavy to very heavy rain with thunderstorms until July 18 due to a developing low-pressure system over the northwest Bay of Bengal.
The system is expected to affect coastal and interior districts including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh, where strong winds (30–40 km/h) and lightning are likely. Cuttack, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur may also receive moderate to heavy showers.
Sea conditions will remain rough. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea for the next 24 hours.
The public is urged to stay alert, avoid risky areas, and follow official weather updates. Local authorities have been asked to remain prepared for possible waterlogging, falling trees, and disruption to transport.
