KIIT Achieves Prestigious Ranking in Global Higher Education List

Bhubaneswar,14th Oct 2025:  : As every year, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the current year have been released. This year, KIIT University has shown significant improvement both globally and nationally. On Thursday, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026 were published, revealing KIIT’s excellent performance. Out of 2,191 universities worldwide, KIIT is ranked within the 501 cohort. In India, KIIT stands as the 5th best university among 128 institutions, proudly securing the first position in Odisha. While the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) holds the top spot nationally, KIIT has achieved the honor of being ranked 5th best university in India.

Academic Excellence and Criteria

In the current year’s Times Higher Education rankings, KIIT holds the 259th position globally for academic excellence. Times Higher Education bases its rankings on five criteria: industry integration, international outlook, and social commitment (SDG), among others. KIIT has excelled in these parameters, earning distinction as one of the top performers in India.

Among universities in Eastern India and Odisha, KIIT has secured the first place. Despite being a relatively young university, KIIT has competed with many prestigious and well-established universities worldwide and demonstrated remarkable progress. Many educators and founders, including Achyuta Samanta, have congratulated KIIT on this achievement.

Times Higher Education 2026 has praised KIIT’s performance, stating that this success reflects a journey from local excellence to global recognition. Although Odisha is a small state, KIIT’s establishment and rising global profile reflect its growing recognition worldwide.

Expressing happiness over this success, Mr. Samanta said that every state hopes to have universities ranked among the world’s top 500 in global university rankings. KIIT, with only 28 years as an institution and 22 years as a university, has achieved the honor of placing within the 501 cohort of prestigious global universities. He attributes this success to the blessings of the divine and the good wishes of the people of Odisha.

This achievement is a matter of pride and honor for Odisha and India. All KIIT faculty, students, staff, and founder Mr. Samanta’s continuous efforts and visionary leadership have been duly acknowledged and congratulated for this remarkable accomplishment.
