29th May 2025: The Odisha State Cabinet has approved five significant proposals aimed at advancing technology, improving infrastructure, strengthening public services, and enhancing governance.
1. Odisha AI Policy Approved
The Cabinet has approved the state’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy, which includes setting up an AI Cell and launching an AI Mission. The policy focuses on integrating AI into governance, developing skilled manpower, and promoting AI-based startups.
2. Major Temple Infrastructure at Joranda
A new Shunya Mandap will be built at the Mahima Gadi shrine in Joranda at a cost of ₹171 crore. The project will be completed in 36 months. Cabinet has approved the tender process.
3. Jetty Construction at Jatadhari River Mouth
Two private companies — JSW and Utkal Steel Ltd — will construct jetties at the Jatadhari river mouth in Jagatsinghpur, enhancing coastal and industrial infrastructure.
4. Civil Services Age Limit Extended
The upper age limit for applying to Odisha Civil Services has been increased from 32 to 42 years, broadening access to government jobs for more candidates.
5. Strengthening Eye Care Services
The Cabinet approved the Odisha Eye Care Service Rules, including the creation of 341 new posts to improve and expand eye care facilities across the state.
These decisions underscore the state’s focus on inclusive growth, digital innovation, and citizen-centric governance.
