Odisha Chief Minister Calls for Reduction in Expenditure for FY 2024-25

28th February 2025: Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, during a review meeting at the Lok Seva Bhavan, urged a reduction in community expenditures to 85% by the end of the current fiscal year (2024-25). Last year, community expenditures accounted for 81% of the total budget.

The Chief Minister advised ministers to promptly review and approve all expenditure proposals and ensure that pending payments for welfare schemes are made without delay.

He stressed the importance of program and capital expenditures in creating jobs and boosting economic growth. Odisha’s capital expenditure is the highest in the country, standing at 6.1% of GSDP. The Chief Minister called for increased investments in various sectors, particularly in agriculture, to drive economic progress and infrastructure development.
