Malkangiri,Feb, 3: A Free Mega Medical Camp was organized today at the Uttam Malik Group of Institutions in the district headquarters of Malkangiri. The residents of the district welcomed this social initiative. College authorities, Dr. Shiva Narayan Patra, stated that such programs addressing the health issues of the people of Malkangiri district will continue every year.
According to reports, a similar program was organized last December in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital, Visakhapatnam. For the first time in Malkangiri district, a cancer screening camp was conducted at the Uttam Malik Group of Institutions. The main objective was to create awareness about cancer and to ensure free treatment for underprivileged people showing symptoms of the disease.
Similarly, on 24/01 this month, another free health check-up camp was organized in Malkangiri in collaboration with Omega Medical, Vijayawada. The program began at 9:00 AM under the supervision of a five-member medical team.
The program commenced after offering floral tributes to the deity by chief guests Mr. Gauranga Karmakar, President of the District Bengali Society, and Mr. Ghanashyam Madkami, Advisor of the District Tribal Association.
The five-member medical team from Omega Medical, Vijayawada included Dr. Sheikh Mastan (Cardiology), Dr. N. Rama Rao (Orthopedics), Dr. S. Sarita (Nephrology), Dr. Aditya Nadella (Oncology), along with other supporting doctors.
As per registration records, more than 800 people from across the district attended the camp for health check-ups. A significant number of cases related to blood pressure, diabetes, weight issues, and infertility-related ailments were observed.
The residents of the district expressed gratitude to all members of the Uttam Malik Group of Institutions for organizing such a service-oriented program. The Chairman and Secretary, Dr. Shiva Narayan Patra, President Dilip Das, and Vice President Shankar Pal informed that such programs will continue every year.
They also appealed to the residents of Malkangiri district that if there are any differently-abled persons without hands or legs, they should be brought and registered at the institution so that free artificial limbs can be provided by the college/institution.
They thanked the district residents for their cooperation in making the program successful. Dr. Patra stated that not only the students studying in the college but also their families are part of their extended family, and taking care of their health is their responsibility.
Dr. Shiva Narayan Patra also thanked all college members including P. Kishore Kumar, Akash Mistry, Sarat Hial, Banita Barman, Nikita Gand, Suchismita Padhi, Raju Sarkar, Siuli Haldar, Kabita Sarkar, Liza Ray, along with CBSE students, CASL students, and Sunayana Nursing College students for their support and participation.
