Odisha Launches Major Road Safety Initiatives on Zero Accident Day

4th June 2025: Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi marked Zero Accident Day by emphasizing that road accidents impact not just individuals, but also families, the state, and the broader economy. He urged citizens to strictly follow traffic rules to ensure safe travel.

As part of the event, several key transport projects were launched. These included the Shri Jagannath Express inter-state bus service across eight destinations, the inauguration of the Atal Bus Terminal, the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), and the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC).

A major highlight was the opening of Odisha’s first automated driving test center in Cuttack. Foundation stones were also laid for 20 more such centers to improve driver testing and reduce accidents.

In total, 55 road safety projects worth ₹575.77 crore were launched, reflecting the state government’s strong commitment to safer roads. According to the Chief Minister, these initiatives mark the start of a new era in Odisha’s transport safety efforts.
