9th January 2025: During the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD), Odisha showcased its cultural richness and vibrant tourism offerings to a global audience. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida expressed pride in the state’s tourism potential, calling the event an important opportunity to highlight Odisha’s diverse tribal cultures, heritage, and festive traditions.

Under the Swadesh Darshan scheme, the state has focused on developing its coastal areas, enhancing infrastructure while preserving its historical legacy. Odisha is also introducing unique tourism experiences such as hot air ballooning, yacht tourism, caravan tours, adventure parks, and homestays, which cater to a wide variety of interests.
In addition, the state is integrating digital technology into tourism, with initiatives like digital ticketing and mobile apps providing real-time updates to enhance the visitor experience.
A significant aspect of Odisha’s tourism strategy is the focus on women’s empowerment. By supporting women-led businesses in hospitality and tourism, Odisha is not only strengthening its economy but also fostering gender equality and encouraging women to take leadership roles in the industry.
As Odisha continues to improve its tourism infrastructure, it invites global support to become a leading sustainable tourism destination. The state’s efforts in both tourism development and women empowerment highlight its vision for a brighter and more inclusive future.
