25th April 2025: The India Steel Summit 2025 officially commenced on Thursday at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, attracting industry leaders from across the country. Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi is leading a delegation from Odisha to participate in this prestigious three-day event, which focuses on the future of the steel industry in India.
A key highlight of the summit is the Roundtable on Odisha-Steel Production and Raw Material Expansion, scheduled for Friday. Chief Minister Majhi will chair this session, which will feature major players in the steel sector, including Tata Steel, JSPL, JSW, and AMNS. The discussion will center on Odisha’s pivotal role in steel production, its rich raw material resources, and the opportunities for expanding investments and industrial growth in the region.
The roundtable will emphasize Odisha’s strong steel production capacity, solid infrastructure, investor-friendly policies, and the potential for the growth of related industries. Senior officials from the state will present valuable data, and industrial representatives will offer their expertise in further developing Odisha’s steel sector.
Following the roundtable, Chief Minister Majhi will engage in one-on-one discussions with top industrialists in the steel and related sectors. He is also set to meet with representatives from the Indian Chemical Council and the Indian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association to explore collaboration opportunities.
Odisha has firmly established itself as India’s largest steel producer, earning recognition as the steel capital of the country. The state’s prominent role in the steel industry was underscored during the Odisha Conclave in January, which set the stage for significant investments in the sector.
The India Steel Summit 2025 provides an important platform for Odisha to showcase its contributions to the national steel industry and underscores the state’s growing significance in India’s industrial landscape.
