Review Meeting Charts Roadmap for 835 New Model Primary Schools

Bhubaneswar, 6th Aug 2025: In the first phase, 835 ‘Godavarish Mishra Model Primary Schools’ will be constructed across Odisha. These schools will serve as feeder schools to nearby high schools.

Each school may cost up to ₹7 crore, and will be established in Gram Panchayat headquarters that meet specific criteria:

  • More than 100 students enrolled
  • At least 2 acres of land available
  • Classes from pre-primary to Class 8

During a review meeting of the Model School Programme held in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, several key decisions were made to uplift national-level quality education, especially focusing on access for children in remote areas.

Key Highlights:

  • Free transport will be provided to students from remote villages.
  • Selected schools with adequate land will be developed further into high school level institutions.
  • Focus on modern education through technology integration and improving teacher recruitment processes.
  • Instructions were issued to officials for improving infrastructure, adopting modern teaching methods, and enhancing community participation, including parents, alumni, and local stakeholders.

Curriculum Focus:

  • The new model schools will emphasize:
  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • Vocational skills
  • Experiential learning
  • Creativity, critical thinking, and life skills
  • Chief Minister’s Focus Areas:
  • Ensure foundational learning competencies up to Class 3 as per National Education Policy 2020.
  • Build alignment with NEP-2020 and strengthen basic education outcomes.
