Jeypore, 25th Aug 2025: The severely damaged National Highway-26 will soon undergo repairs. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has directed the Bhubaneswar National Highways Division to take immediate steps in this regard.
It may be noted that on June 9, local resident Basanta Patra of Purunagada had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the deplorable condition of the road. In his letter, he mentioned that NH-26 is the lifeline of Jeypore town. The highway connects Koraput with Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, and thousands of heavy vehicles ply daily on this route.
At present, the road is in a badly damaged state. A few years ago, some repairs were carried out, but only potholes were filled temporarily. Therefore, he requested for comprehensive repair and restoration of the highway.
Acting on this complaint, the Prime Minister’s Office has now issued directions for necessary action.
