Koraput Hosts Forum Highlighting Tribal Heritage of Southern Odisha

Koraput, 10th Sept 2025: On the auspicious occasion of Indu Purnima, a discussion forum and literary session on the theme “Tribal Culture of Southern Odisha” was jointly organized by the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, and Koraput Sahitya Parivar at the Atithi Bhavan in Koraput.

In the first session, the discussion forum was chaired by Poet Ravi Shatapathi, Vice President of Koraput Sahitya Parivar. Dr. Preetidhara Samal, Member of the Odia Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, delivered the welcome address and introduced the guests.

Research papers on the central theme were presented by renowned scholars including:

Dr. Ajay Kumar Sahu – Eminent researcher

Dr. Jagabandhu Samal – Distinguished tribal culture scholar

Simon Bidika – Researcher and writer on indigenous traditions

In the second session, noted short story writer Shri Narayan Panda shared his literary journey and read one of his original short stories.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Bijay Kumar Pradhan, Joint Secretary of Koraput Sahitya Parivar and translator.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from literary figures and cultural enthusiasts across different parts of the undivided Koraput district. Among the prominent attendees were Dharanidhar Rana, Sridhar Parida, and Swati Chatterjee, whose presence added depth and significance to the event.
