Residents Struggle as Rainwater Accumulates on Streets

Nandapur /24th Sept 2025:  In Odisha’s Koraput district, near the wet railway bridge on the Nandapur-Handiput connecting road (under the Eastern Division), rainwater was seen flowing knee-deep on Monday. Due to the lack of any drainage system at this location, such a situation arises even with light rainfall.

On both sides of the railway bridge, students from the nearby Sevashram and Wet School, as well as pedestrians and vehicles commuting between Padua and Nandapur, are forced to pass through this knee-deep water, putting them at risk.

With a cyclone expected soon, local intellectuals have urged the district administration, officials of the Eastern Division’s Pattangi section, and the railway authorities to make proper arrangements for drainage under the bridge to avoid further inconvenience and danger.
