Kotpad, 13th Oct 2025: A tragic incident occurred in Guniaguda village under Batasana Gram Panchayat of Kotpad block, where a young man lost his life due to a lightning strike.
The deceased has been identified as Dhanar Nayak (26), son of Baliram Nayak of the same village. The lightning struck suddenly while Dhanar was returning from some work in Girla village, walking along a farmland path. He collapsed on the spot due to the impact.
Upon hearing the news, villagers and family members rushed to the scene and informed the police. The police arrived promptly, recovered the body, and after conducting a post-mortem, handed it over to the family.
An unnatural death case has been registered at the police station, and the investigation is ongoing, according to IIC Paramananda Sunani.
