Major Accident Averted as Three Survive Car Fire in Lamtaput

Lamtaput , 14th Oct 2025:  Near a private hospital in Lamtaput, a parked car caught fire, with three individuals inside narrowly escaping with minor burns.

According to sources, Savitri Machh from Bahiripada, Nandapur, was brought to the hospital for treatment by her relatives Surendra Khemuṇḍu, driver Dipu Bahadur, and Hemanta Khara. After admitting the patient late at night, the three decided to rest in the car due to the long wait at the hospital.

As it was quite cold, they turned on the car heater and fell asleep inside the vehicle. Unfortunately, the heater had been running for a long time, leading to a short circuit, which eventually caused the car to catch fire.

Noticing the rising heat and smoke, the three managed to escape just in time, avoiding major injuries. However, the car was completely destroyed in the fire.

The incident, happening within the hospital premises, caused panic among other patient relatives staying nearby. Medical staff and locals tried to extinguish the fire, and the Lamtaput Fire Department was informed. Although there was a delay, fire personnel eventually arrived and brought the blaze under control.

The car owner has reported the incident to the Lamtaput police outpost.
