Umarkot,14th Oct 2025: : The Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krushi Yojana has been launched by the Central Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and the Rural Development Department. The event was inaugurated via video conference from New Delhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who addressed the nation and formally launched the scheme.
At the district level in Nabarangpur, the program was held at the Agricultural Science Center in Umarkot, with farmers participating while watching the prime minister’s address via a broadcast.
The local program was organized under the presidency of Agricultural Scientist Rudra Prasanna Halik at the Agricultural Science Center. The chief guest was senior leader Ramesh Chandra Sahu, and other dignitaries including MLA Sona Majhi delivered speeches. Among the honored guests were Mayor Radha Bhatra and other Members of Parliament.
During the event, officials spoke about the objectives of the scheme: to ensure food security, provide nutritious food supplies to people, and increase farmers’ incomes and agricultural productivity. They stated that through these initiatives, more than 50 lakh farmers and farming producer groups across the country would benefit.
It was noted that compared to the previous year, so far this year the country has achieved record levels in irrigation coverage and food grain production. Producers were encouraged to move toward self-reliance in pulses and oilseeds production.
In attendance from the Agricultural Science Center were Farm Manager Binapani Taria, Agricultural Machinery Engineer Swagatika Mallik, Plant Health Clinic Assistant Binu Binayak, and others who helped coordinate the program.
Separately, at Nabarangpur, a district-level event was held where Senior Scientist Dr. Shashank from the Agricultural Science Center also took part and helped run the program.
