Tribal Pride Day Marked Along ECoR with Cultural Events and Awareness Drives

Bhubaneswar, Nov 29:  In honor of the bravery, foresight, and extraordinary contributions of India’s tribal leaders, the Tribal Pride Fortnight 2025 is being celebrated across the country from 1st to 15th November. This nationwide celebration is part of a broader initiative to recognize the legacy of India’s most revered tribal freedom fighters and their resistance against colonial rule, particularly commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a lasting symbol of tribal courage and struggle.

Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the celebration of Tribal Pride Year to acknowledge the historic role and cultural richness of India’s tribal communities, and to connect their stories of courage, heritage, and nation-building with national consciousness. Under his leadership, the government established 15th November as Tribal Pride Day, honoring Bhagwan Birsa Munda and other tribal icons, and emphasizing their contribution to the country’s history.

Senior officials and employees enthusiastically participated in the program, held in the North Block atrium of the Railway Bhawan, Bhubaneswar. The event showcased exhibitions and performances highlighting India’s tribal creativity, craftsmanship, and traditions, aiming to empower tribal communities and inspire future generations.

The program, chaired by B.S.K. Rajkumar, Additional General Manager of East Coast Railway, included floral tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda. A vibrant cultural program and an independent exhibition were organized, featuring:

Traditional tribal art and cultural artifacts

Handicrafts made by tribal artisans

Items reflecting tribal lifestyle and customs

Local products representing tribal heritage

These exhibits highlighted the rich history, traditions, and contributions of tribal communities to India’s development. The event provided a deep insight into tribal culture, with performances bringing tribal music, rhythm, and storytelling traditions to life.

Many officers and employees of East Coast Railway participated, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to respecting diversity and recognizing tribal heritage, while promoting awareness of India’s tribal legacy.
