Teachers and Students Shocked by Sudden Passing of Headmistress

Harichandanpur, Dec, 08:  Sanjukta Sahu, the Headmistress of the Government Primary School, Karanjia, under Jamujodi Cluster of Harichandanpur Block Education Department, passed away untimely at the age of 57.

Known as a religious, social-service–oriented, soft-spoken and punctual personality, Sanjukta had been suffering from cancer for the past 14 months. While undergoing treatment, she breathed her last on Saturday evening at SCB Medical, Cuttack. An extremely dedicated teacher, she had been sincerely fulfilling all her responsibilities. She was the wife of Dambaru Dhar Sahu, a retired Hindi teacher of Janata Higher Secondary School, Jiranga, and also a yoga instructor. At her deathbed were present her daughter, son-in-law, son, and other close relatives.

After her mortal remains reached Karanjia on Saturday night, leaders of the Block Teachers’ Association—Saroj Kumar Pradhan, Dhaneswar Mahant, Smrutiranjan Bej, senior teacher Shirish Chandra Sahu, Ajit Kumar Sahu, Dambaru Dhar Patra, Nirmal Mahant and many other teachers—visited her residence and paid their last respects.

Social worker and BJD leader Amar Kumar, the representative of the Telkoi MLA, BJP leader Shirish Kumar Sahu, media representatives, and several other dignitaries also arrived at her Karanjia residence to pay homage. Upon receiving the news, Group Education Officer Chinmay Kumar Sahu expressed deep grief and extended his condolences to the bereaved family. Her funeral rites were performed at the village cremation ground.
