Banita Becomes Space Education Ambassador

Nabarangpur, Jan, 22:   Banita Dash, daughter of lecturer Ban Bihari Dash of Gadabaguda, is providing training on behalf of the Space Education Foundation India, an organisation affiliated with NASA. She has prepared plans to organise this programme in Nabarangpur district in the coming days. In this regard, she has informed the District Collector and the District Education Officer through written communication.
Banita has been appointed as an Ambassador for the Asteroid Search Campaign under the Space Education Foundation. Through this initiative, she is encouraging school and college students across various parts of Odisha to participate in the asteroid search campaign.

On January 6, Banita presented a project titled “Little Explorers Scope” at the Design for India Youth Innovation Challenge–2026, organised in Bhubaneswar by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The objective of the project was to develop a low-cost telescope to inspire economically disadvantaged rural students to take an interest in space science.

Banita’s project received awards and widespread appreciation. Earlier, in 2022, she was honoured with the Prime Minister’s Rashtriya Bal Puraskar for Innovation, bringing pride and recognition to the district at the state and national levels.
