Kothar, Feb, 6:Gandhi’s death anniversary was observed at the premises of Suryapur Government Upper Primary School under Dhusuri Panchayat in Dhamnagar Block.
In the morning, a cleanliness drive was carried out on the school campus. Floral tributes were offered to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue, followed by tilatarpan and recitation of the Gita. On this occasion, a simple memorial meeting was organized.
The meeting was presided over by freedom fighter Ramhari Goswami. Dhusuri Sarpanch Antaryami Pati attended as the chief guest. Retired teacher and poet Nrusingha Charan Nayak delivered the keynote address. Among the distinguished guests were retired Headmaster Ramakanta Parida, Hemanta Sutar, Basudev Samal, President of Dhusuri Press Union Santosh Das, journalist Ratikanta Nayak, social worker Brajabihari Goswami, and retired teacher Narendra Goswami.
The vote of thanks was proposed by retired teacher Nirod Kumar Behera. Senior teacher Raghunath Swain, social workers Satyabrata Barik, Amulya Sahu, Debananda Hota, and members of the Gandhi Smruti Committee extended their cooperation in organizing the event.
