Malkangiri, Feb, 6: The district-level folk festival “Malyabanta Mahotsav” of Malkangiri will begin on February 1 and continue until February 5. This information was shared by District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay during a press conference. He appealed to the public to enjoy Malyabanta Mahotsav–2025 with joy, enthusiasm, and discipline.
To ensure tight security arrangements, 500 police personnel and BSF जवान have been deployed by the district administration. CCTV cameras have been installed at DNK playground and across the town to monitor all activities. The sale of liquor has been prohibited throughout the district from January 29 to February 6.
On the first evening of the festival, Bollywood artist Trisha Chatterjee will perform. On the second evening, Deeptirekha Padhi will grace the stage. The third evening will feature Kuldeep Pattnaik and internationally acclaimed Odissi dancer Shashwat Joshi. On the fourth evening, Montu Chhuria will perform, and the closing ceremony will showcase renowned singer Yasser Desai and Ollywood artist Sohini Mishra.
Local artists will present cultural performances daily from 5 PM to 7 PM. Traditional Desia dramas will be staged every night.
This year, 120 stalls have been allotted to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at the Pallishree Mela. Additionally, 20 stalls have been provided to various government departments, 30 for food vendors, 55 for merchandise sales, and 15 stalls have been made free of cost. For sanitation management, 22 volunteers have been appointed.
The Malyabanta stage has been named “Shaheed Tajna Dora Rangamancha” in honor of the martyr. Seating arrangements for 3,000 people have been made.
The inauguration ceremony will begin on Sunday at 9 AM with a procession from Jagannath Temple to the DNK playground. The municipal council has made adequate parking arrangements. Separate entry and exit routes have been arranged at the festival ground to manage the crowd.
The district administration has taken all necessary steps to ensure the grand success of the festival.
