Dasapalla, Feb, 11:The 49th General Session of Utkal Sammilani, which began on Saturday at Srikrishna Mandap in Dasapalla, concluded on Sunday. Hundreds of delegates from across the state participated in the session.
The meeting was presided over by State President Advaita Prasad Patra. Member of Parliament Sukanta Kumar Panigrahi attended as the उद्घotक (inaugurator) and formally inaugurated the programme by hoisting the Utkal Sammilani flag.
At the beginning of the session, MLA Ramesh Chandra Behera joined as the chief guest. Delegates from various districts of the state were also present. Detailed discussions were held on the Odia language and literature, and a demand was raised to ensure the use of Odia as the official language in all government functions.
Among others present were Dasapalla branch president Dr. Baidyanath Sahu, Secretary Hadibandhu Mahakhuda, State Committee Member Prashanta Kumar Sahu, Vice Presidents Bimal Sadangi and Usha Rani Mohanty, General Secretary Rabindra Mishra, and Bharat Bhushan Mohanty from Gajapati district.
After extensive deliberations and debates, it was decided to reassign the existing committee another term of three years. The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dasapalla Secretary Shri Mahakhuda.
