Cuttack, Feb, 24: A demand has been raised to grant university status to Shailabala Women’s College in Cuttack. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has urged the state government to consider the proposal.
In the current budget, the government has proposed setting up four new universities. ABVP has requested the government to reconsider and upgrade Shailabala College into a university. The organization has been demanding university status for the college since 2017.
“Right Decision at the Right Time”: Higher Education Minister
Responding to the issue, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj said that the government has not ignored the demand but is seriously considering it.
He stated that priority will first be given to infrastructure development, followed by strengthening the academic environment. The state government will take the right decision at the appropriate time.
