Devotees Throng Tara Tarini Peeth as Chaitra Yatra Commences

Berhampur, March 13  The famous annual Chaitra Tuesday Yatra of Odisha’s presiding deity, Goddess Tara Tarini, begins from today at Tara Tarini Temple.

A large turnout of devotees is expected on the first Tuesday, and the administration has completed all necessary preparations.

Purushottampur Tehsildar and Executive Officer of the Tara Tarini Temple, Binod Behera, stated that all arrangements have been made as in previous years. Priority has been given to the safety of devotees, and systematic darshan arrangements have been put in place.

Keeping the summer heat in view, drinking water facilities have been arranged. Anna Prasad (community meal) distribution has been organized at two locations at the foothills of the temple.

Temporary tonsure centers have been set up at four places for devotees. Adequate law and order and traffic control measures have been implemented, along with parking arrangements on all four sides of the pilgrimage site.

The use of adulterated ghee has been strictly prohibited during the festival. The service bus fare has been fixed at Rs30 per person, while the ropeway fare has been set at ₹65 per passenger.

For better healthcare services, two air-conditioned rooms have been arranged. Animal sacrifice and the sale of liquor have been strictly prohibited during the yatra, he added.
