CM Majhi Hails BJP’s Rajya Sabha Success

In Bhubaneswar, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday extended congratulations to the BJP’s Rajya Sabha nominees and an Independent candidate backed by the party, even as the official results are still awaited.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded state unit president Manmohan Samal and sitting MP Sujeet Kumar as its official candidates. Former Union minister Dilip Ray contested as an Independent with the party’s support.

In a message posted on X, Majhi congratulated all three leaders, describing their victory as a significant step toward achieving the vision of a “Viksit Odisha.” He expressed confidence that their presence in the Rajya Sabha would strengthen the state’s voice at the national level and contribute to its development.

On the other side, the Biju Janata Dal nominated Santrupt Misra and Dr Datteswar Hota, with backing from the Congress and CPI(M).

Voting for the Rajya Sabha elections concluded at 6 pm, with reports suggesting cross-voting by at least five MLAs from opposition parties in favour of Dilip Ray. However, the final results are yet to be formally declared.
