OSCPCR Intensifies Action Against Child Abuse and Exploitation Through Statewide Awareness and Inspection Drives

Bhubaneswar, March, 18: Child beggars will be removed from roads, temples, traffic intersections, bus stands, and other public places across the state.

Odisha aims to become a child beggar–free state by the end of 2026.

In this regard, the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) has issued official guidelines.

A district-level task force will be formed in every district.

Strict action will be taken against middlemen and agents who engage children in begging.

Special focus will be placed on preventing child trafficking and exploitation.

The Police Department’s IUCAW (Investigation Unit on Crimes Against Women) and AHTU (Anti-Human Trafficking Unit) have been directed to closely monitor such activities and take necessary action.

The initiative aims to ensure the protection, rehabilitation, and welfare of vulnerable children across Odisha.
