Bhubaneswar, March 19: As part of preparations for the upcoming Independent Intensive Revision (SIR) program in the state, a four-day state-level training program for election officers began on Tuesday. The training is being held from March 10 to 13, 2026, at the Revenue Officers Training Institute (ROTI) in Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar. Each day consists of two training sessions.
On the third day, State Chief Election Officer Shri R. S. Gopalan attended and led discussions on key aspects of the Independent Intensive Revision process. Officers from seven districts—Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Puri—participated, including Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Additional EROs, and Deputy Collectors (Elections).
During the training, participants were briefed on:
Independent Intensive Revision procedures
Voter list revision methods
Matching and verification of voters with old electoral rolls
Data collection and field-level implementation
Special emphasis was given to institutional preparedness and human resource deployment. Measures were discussed to ensure transparency and active participation.
The training included sessions on:
Appointment of booth-level officials
Voter verification and form management for MLAs
Identification of 20 key personnel per polling booth
Matching voter data with the 2002 electoral roll
Further focus was on:
Digitization of enumeration forms
Identification of suitable locations and facilities for scanning, data entry, and verification
Deployment of trained staff for these tasks
To address voter claims and complaints efficiently, camps will be organized across various locations, ensuring accessibility and timely resolution. Dates, timings, and locations of these camps will be communicated to voters and stakeholders in advance.
Additionally, IT cells will be established at the ERO and AERO offices, equipped with necessary personnel, to facilitate smooth management, supervision, and assistance to BLOs and field staff during the revision process.
Through this training, officers are being prepared both practically and administratively for the upcoming Independent Intensive Revision program, as directed by State Chief Election Officer Shri Gopalan.
