Authorities Review Fire Safety Measures at District Headquarters Hospital in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur, Mar, 25:: Following a news report regarding fire safety and sanitation arrangements at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and the Mother & Child Hospital (MCH) in Nabarangpur, the District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain and Nabarangpur MLA Gaurishankar Majhi visited the DHH and inspected both departments.
They were surprised to find that the fire safety systems were not functioning. NHM DPM Shankar Acharya informed that funds have been sanctioned for installing advanced fire safety systems at the DHH, MCH, Umerkote SDH, and all CHCs and PHCs in the district.
Subsequently, the District Collector directed the Works Department to immediately take up the necessary work. He also instructed the Executive Engineers of the department, Kshiradhar Maila and Kandhapani, to promptly hand over the non-functional toilets in various wards.
Expressing concern over garbage lying within the hospital premises, he directed Nandahandi BDO Kshirod Chandra Sahu to ensure immediate cleaning. Officials from the Electricity Department and Public Health Department were called and instructed to repair all necessary equipment.
With the onset of summer, there is a risk of short circuits. Therefore, Tata Power Executive Engineer Santosh Raut was instructed to fix and organize the electrical wiring in advance.
Shopkeepers in front of the hospital were warned of fines if they continued to dump waste in the area.
The District Collector and the MLA also visited various wards and interacted with patients to inquire about treatment facilities and other arrangements.
On this occasion, Chief District Medical Officer Malay Pradhan, ADPHO, Hospital Manager Ritesh Sahu, and Yashbant Brahma were present.
