Army Soldier Saved by E-CPR Technique at AIIMS Bhubaneswar

19th November 2024: A remarkable medical achievement at AIIMS Bhubaneswar has resulted in the successful rescue of a 24-year-old Army soldier from Ranpur, Nayagarh district, who was brought to the hospital after suffering a severe cardiac arrest. The soldier’s heart had stopped for nearly two hours, and despite initial efforts to revive him through conventional CPR, his condition remained critical.

In October, the soldier was referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where he was immediately treated for a heart attack. After 40 minutes of standard CPR with no success, the medical team decided to perform E-CPR (Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)—an advanced procedure used in critical cases like this.
