Government Empowers Field-Level Officers with Higher Financial Limits to Reduce Delays and Strengthen Local Decision-Making

Bhubaneswar, April 01:State government has decided to enhance the financial powers of officers
Amendment made to the 1978 Delegation of Financial Powers Rules
Spending powers of various officials at the administrative level have been increased
No longer necessary to wait for Cabinet or Ministerial approval in many cases
Now, Departmental Secretaries and District Collectors can approve project funds
Department Heads can approve up to ₹10 crore, and Secretaries up to ₹20 crore
Projects up to ₹100 crore will be approved by the Finance Committee
Projects above ₹200 crore will require Cabinet approval
Decision taken to speed up public welfare schemes and project implementation
