Baliguda, April 03:The fourth and final Tuesday festival of the Chaitra month dedicated to the presiding deity of Baliguda region in Kandhamal district, Goddess Maa Patakhanda, was celebrated with great devotion.
On this occasion, Maa Patakhanda appeared before devotees in a beautiful lotus flower (Padma Phula) attire. As it was the last Tuesday of the Chaitra month, hundreds of devotees from across Kandhamal district and various parts of the state gathered to seek her blessings.
From early morning, after the completion of rituals and पूजा as per tradition, a large number of devotees thronged the temple throughout the day and into the night to witness this rare and sacred attire of the goddess. Devotees maintained discipline while having darshan and received her blessings.
It was also observed that some devotees, fulfilling their vows, performed the traditional head-shaving (mundan) ceremony of their children during the festival.
On this occasion, the temple management committee and some devotees distributed prasad and pana (a traditional drink). All committee members and priests were present and actively assisted in the smooth management of the event.
