Baliguda, April 04: The fourth and final Tuesday festival of the Chaitra month dedicated to Maa Patakhanda, the presiding deity of the Baliguda region in Kandhamal district, has been successfully concluded.
On this occasion, Maa Patakhanda appeared before devotees in a special “lotus flower attire” (Padma Phula Besha). As it was the last Tuesday of the Chaitra month, hundreds of devotees from across Kandhamal district as well as different parts of the state gathered to seek her blessings.
From early morning, after the rituals and पूजा were performed as per tradition, a large crowd of devotees thronged the temple throughout the day and night to witness this rare attire of the goddess. Devotees had orderly darshan and received her blessings.
It was also observed that some devotees performed the ritual head-shaving (mundan) of their children during the festival as part of their vows.
On this occasion, prasad along with pana (a traditional drink) was distributed by the temple management committee and some devotees. All committee members and priests were present and actively assisted in the smooth management of the event.
