Umerkote, April 06:: A swimming training program for youth, focusing on swimming and water survival skills, has been successfully concluded at the AGR Defence and Physical Academy in Umerkote. The program was organized jointly by the Odisha State Disaster Management Department and the Nabarangpur district administration.
A total of 300 participants were trained, divided into 10 groups of 30 trainees each. The training was conducted by an ODRAF (Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force) team from Koraput.
Participants were provided with necessary equipment along with food and accommodation facilities during the training period.
Nabarangpur Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain, Additional Collector (Revenue) Biswajit Chandra Barman, Additional Collector (General) Tapan Kumar Khuntia, and District Emergency Officer Gitanjali Behera encouraged the participants.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond made a surprise visit to the camp and highlighted the objectives of this training initiative by the state government.
Certificates were awarded to the trainees of the final batch. The valedictory program was attended by Additional Collector Tapan Kumar Khuntia as chief guest and dignitaries including Umerkote Tehsildar Bhagaban Bagh, BDO Manoj Kumar Meher, Ashok Kumar Sahu (in charge of Umerkote Indoor Stadium), Project Officer Himanshu Sekhar Patnaik, Sub-Divisional Officer Tripati Balaji Sahu, Engineer Chandana Mallik, Sports Teacher M. Bijay Kumar, and ODRAF team leader Maheshwar Khatri along with team members.
The district administration also felicitated all members of the ODRAF team from Koraput for their contribution.
