Cabinet Clears Proposal to Expand Strength of Supreme Court Judges

Delhi, May 07:The Union Cabinet has taken an important decision to approve an increase in the number of judges in the Supreme Court of India.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has informed about this Cabinet decision.
At present, there are a total of 34 judges including the Chief Justice of India (CJI); this number will be increased to 38.
In 2014, the number of judges was 25, which is now set to increase by nearly 50%.
👉 The aim of this step is to speed up the disposal of pending cases and make the justice delivery system more efficient.
