Clerical Association Urges State Government to Provide Compensation and Assistance to Deceased Staff Member’s Family

Koraput, May 09:: The Odisha Clerical Association has appealed to the Chief Minister to provide compassionate financial assistance to the family of a government employee who allegedly died due to medical negligence.
According to reports, Pushpit Tripathy, an employee working in the office of the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), Koraput, experienced severe chest pain on April 23, 2026. He immediately went with his wife to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
It has been alleged that despite repeatedly informing doctors about intense chest pain, emergency treatment was not started immediately. Instead, he was reportedly sent to various departments for medical tests. As a result, he allegedly passed away before treatment could begin.
The incident has raised serious concerns among the public regarding healthcare services. People are questioning the condition of ordinary citizens if even employees working within the Health Department face such negligence in treatment. The matter has also received attention in the media.
Following complaints from the family members, the District Collector of Koraput is said to have ordered an inquiry into the incident.
State Additional General Secretary of the Odisha Clerical Association, Shashibhusan Dash, urged the Chief Minister to intervene in the matter and requested ₹10 lakh as compassionate assistance for the deceased employee’s family. He also demanded strict action against officials responsible for the alleged negligence and justice for the bereaved family.
Shri Dash stated that if the financial condition of the late Tripathy had been better, he might have been able to receive treatment at a good private hospital and perhaps survived. He further said that many government employees face both administrative and financial pressure, leaving them deprived of quality healthcare.
He appealed to the government to provide health insurance coverage of at least ₹20 lakh to all government employees so that they can access better medical treatment. He added that the Odisha State Non-Gazetted Employees Coordination Committee has been raising this demand before the government for a long time.
