Transparency and Accountability in Government Schemes Highlighted During Social Audit Public Hearing at Dabugaon

Nabarangpur, May 11: A block-level social audit public hearing camp was organised at the conference hall of Dabugaon Block.
The public hearing programme, chaired by BDO Samir Patra, reviewed the expenditure and projects undertaken under MGNREGA and the Central Fifteenth Finance Commission schemes between April 1 and October 2025.
During this period, 6,06,724 labour days were generated across the 12 gram panchayats of Dabugaon Block. A total of 13,839 families were registered for work, while 9,064 families received 100 days of employment under MGNREGA.
An expenditure of rs15 crore 64 lakh 23 thousand was incurred during the period. Out of 3,854 projects undertaken, 2,344 projects were completed.
The block social auditors pointed out irregularities, especially regarding the maintenance of signboards and proper management of panchayat registers. Officials were instructed to undertake extensive awareness campaigns for the registration of new job card holders.
All PEOs and GRS personnel were directed to rectify the errors found in gram panchayat registers within seven days and report the corrections to the BDO.
Similarly, complaints were raised regarding mismanagement in schools under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. Emphasis was laid on improving school infrastructure, maintaining cleanliness in toilets, and ensuring proper hygiene in school kitchens.
The programme was conducted smoothly by APO-in-charge Vidyadhar Bisoi. Among others present were Block Education Officer Rashmita Netam, Zilla Parishad member Dhanasi Utara, AE Sanket Nayak, public hearing committee member Surendra Mishra, DPEO Padmanabh Lalu, Forest Ranger Umakanta Pattnaik, along with all sarpanches, PEOs, and other officials.
