CBSE Makes Three-Language Formula Mandatory for Secondary Students Beginning July 1

Bhubaneswar,June 1:  Starting from July 1, CBSE will make the three-language system mandatory for Class 9 and 10 students. Out of the three languages, two must be Indian native languages.

The three-language structure will be divided into R1, R2, and R3. R1 and R2 will generally include English, Hindi, or other Indian mother tongues, while the third language, R3, will be an Indian native language.

CBSE has announced that 19 regional languages, including Odia, will be offered as options for the third language. This will give students the opportunity to choose a language connected to their culture or region.

There will be no board examination for the third language in Class 10.
