New Delhi, June 8: The price of domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has been increased by ₹29 per 14.2-kg cylinder, adding to household expenses across the country. The revised rates have come into effect immediately.
The latest hike follows a review of international energy prices and domestic market conditions. Officials indicated that the adjustment was necessary to address the rising cost of procurement and distribution of cooking gas.
According to government sources, public sector oil marketing companies have been incurring significant losses on the sale of domestic LPG cylinders. Reports suggest that the companies are currently facing losses of around ₹700 per cylinder, prompting the need for a price revision.
The increase is expected to impact household budgets, particularly among middle- and lower-income families that rely on LPG as their primary cooking fuel. However, the government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the continued availability of clean cooking fuel and maintaining support for eligible beneficiaries under various welfare schemes.
Industry experts note that LPG prices remain sensitive to fluctuations in global crude oil and liquefied gas markets, exchange rate movements, and transportation costs.
Consumers are advised to check the latest cylinder prices applicable in their respective cities through authorized LPG distributors and oil marketing companies.
