New Delhi June 18:: The Central Government has empanelled 33 senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers for appointment to various key positions at the national level. The decision has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). A matter of particular pride for Odisha is that two distinguished senior IPS officers from the Odisha cadre have secured a place in this prestigious list. They are Sudhanshu Sarangi and Padmakar S. Ranpise.
According to the official notification (No. 35/04/2026-EO(SM-I)), Sudhanshu Sarangi, a 1990-batch IPS officer of the Odisha cadre, and Padmakar S. Ranpise, a 1995-batch IPS officer of the same cadre, have been empanelled for appointment to the posts of Director General (DG) or Director General Equivalent (DG Eq.) under the Government of India.
The complete list approved by the ACC includes a total of 33 officers from various state cadres across the country. Of these, 32 officers have been found suitable for DG/DG Equivalent positions, while one officer has been considered suitable for a DG Equivalent post only. The list includes officers from several cadres, with the AGMUT cadre contributing the highest number of officers (six). Senior officers from cadres such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are also among those empanelled.
The empanelment of these two capable Odisha cadre officers to the central level has generated a sense of pride and enthusiasm within the Odisha Police administration. Their elevation is expected to open the door for appointments to important leadership roles in various central government departments and central armed police forces in the coming years.
