Bhubaneswar, June 18: The foundation stone of the “Janashraya Bhavan” project, to be constructed at Unit-II, Bhubaneswar on 3.2 acres of land with an estimated cost of approximately ₹574 crore, was ceremonially laid by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi.
The project is intended to provide affordable, safe, and modern accommodation facilities for people from various districts of the state who visit the capital city for government work, medical treatment, education, training, judicial matters, and other essential purposes. It will further strengthen the government’s commitment to public welfare and citizen-centric governance.
The proposed Janashraya Bhavan has been envisioned as a high-capacity urban hospitality and public service center.
The project has been designed as a financially self-sustaining mixed-use development, integrating commercial, office, and residential facilities. The modern complex will consist of three basement levels, a ground floor, and 19 upper floors. It will include:
Residential accommodation
Dining facilities
Library
Recreation center
Travel desk
Laundry services
Cloakroom facilities
Various other civic amenities
This initiative is regarded as a historic step toward promoting social equality, citizen-friendly governance, and greater accessibility to the state capital for all sections of society.
The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by Bhubaneswar Member of Parliament Aparajita Sarangi, Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, Principal Secretary of the Works Department Sanjay Kumar Singh, Managing Director of obcc.odisha.gov.in� Anupam Saha, Engineer-in-Chief (Civil) Satyabrata Behera, along with senior administrative officials, engineers, and local leaders.
