Bhubaneswar, June 26 (UDN): Panic gripped commuters on Friday after a moving car suddenly caught fire near Pal Heights Square in Bhubaneswar.
According to preliminary reports, the fire is suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit in the vehicle’s air-conditioning (AC) compressor. The flames spread rapidly, forcing the occupants to abandon the car and escape safely before the fire intensified.
On receiving information, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control before it could spread further. No injuries or casualties have been reported in the incident.
The fire led to temporary traffic congestion along the busy Jaydev Vihar–Xavier Square stretch as firefighting operations were carried out and the affected vehicle was removed from the road.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the incident. Motorists have been advised to ensure regular vehicle maintenance and take necessary precautions to prevent such fire-related mishaps.
