Bhubaneswar,June 29 {UDN}: New School Management Committees (SMCs) will be constituted in all schools across the state from July 1. The tenure of the existing committees will end on June 30, after which the new committees will take charge.
The State Project Director has issued fresh guidelines for the formation of School Management Committees and has directed the establishment of two sub-committees under each SMC. Instructions have been sent to all District Education Officers for implementation.
As per the School Management Committee Guidelines–2026:
Schools with fewer than 100 students will have a 15-member committee.
Schools with 100 to 500 students will have a 20-member committee.
Schools with more than 500 students will have a 25-member committee.
Additionally, 75% of the committee members must be parents, ensuring greater community participation in school governance and decision-making.
